Mockeries, unpleasant nicknames, insults, threats, machination of isolation, rumors... all these little malevolent actions can, when repeated, make the pupils’ everyday life totally intolerable. This form of school violence, that is named school-bullying in England, remains quite unknown in France.
However, according to a survey carried out by the authors of that book on a sample of three thousands pupils, 10% of them confess that they are regular victims of bullying.

REVIEWER’S COMMENTS ON THE DOCUMENT:

Jean-Pierre Bellon and Bertrand Gardette present a in-depth analysis of the bullying amongst pupils by showing what is different and what is common with the other kinds of violence. Through numerous testimonies, they describe how the phenomenon is daily experienced by the different persons concerned: the victims, their parents, the different witnesses and even the bulliers. They also show how different prevention strategies can allow stopping this dark side of school violence.
