REVIEWER’S COMMENTS ON THE DOCUMENT:

The reviewed publication is quite useful from the point of view of consideration of violence towards a child at home, within the family, which is among the main factors which trigger aggressive behavior at school. The material gives advice on the subjects, which should attract attention, when evaluation is being done of the risk for appearance of a certain child molestation event or whether a certain child molestation event has already taken place. Teachers and administrators are given clear and comprehensive guidelines on the “signs/marks” whether physical, psychological, emotional or behavioral, which could presuppose a certain type of violence towards a certain child. Most of the types of violence within the family environment have been scrutinized, namely: psychical, psychological, sexual violence, neglect.
The school team has been given recommendations on which state bodies they should contact and which laws should be used for protection of the child in cases of violence. The child right to protection and the state bodies, which have been entitled to cater for this have been presented in detail, together with the tasks, which are assigned to them.
The presented material is extremely useful also because of the methodology for family violence risk assessment, which it includes. This methodology uses for its purposes a list of questionnaires, which give a clear picture of the situation in the family and therefore all the risks, which it bears for the child. A grade is given for the purpose of conducting the risk assessment. Then the material goes through an assessment by presentation of thematic scenarios, the worst of which are assessed with a number 4 and the most favorable of which are assessed with a 0. The types of influence, which are considered are those of the parents, of the child itself, of the family, of the molestation / abandonment, including historically of one or both parents or other children they have had, influence of intervention.
