DESCRIPTION OF CONTENTS:

Through this report the public opinion is informed about the violence in schools phenomenon, which are the most frequent causes of this phenomenon and nonetheless which are the means that can be used in order to find solutions to these conflict situations.
In the first part of the report the representatives of the police treat the issue of causes. They start by pointing out that the problem pupils are the ones that encounter difficulties in the process of communication with their parents or the ones that come from families in which a conflict state is present. The entourage is another possible cause of conflict situations. The desire to stand out, eccentricities of age, the need to be known are other factors that contribute to violence amongst pupils. All these acts of aggression influence in a bad way the educational system, but in the same time they constitute a risk towards pupils that study in schools in which violence „is part” of the curricula.
Out of the factors that generate violence the report recalls: the abundance of violent scenes present in the media, „Shooter” and ”Wrestling” computer games, frustration of pupils or the „encouragements” that come from their colleagues.
As means that can be used to try and solve conflict situations we find: conflict mediation, balance of interests, conflict climate correction at family level and the creation of a balance in student status.

REVIEWER’S COMMENTS ON THE DOCUMENT:

This report can be found on the webpage of the Caraș-Severin County Police Department, on the section dedicated to crime prevention. Through this report the representatives of the police department are trying to draw attention upon the phenomenon of violence in schools. Moreover, they also analyze the causes and offer some solutions that can be put into practice in order to diminish the effects or even stop it.
The new things that this report brings are primarily related to the causes of violence. The police representatives point out the harmful nature of video games, especially ”Shooter” and ”Wrestling” ones, the passiveness of teachers and the challenges that other pupils launch.
Another novelty is represented by an alternative method of treating conflict situations which consists of creating a balance in student status; through this procedure every pupils learns that he has equal rights regardless of the financial status or the social status of parents.
Finally, the authorities conclude by the urge to not encourage school violence.
