On March 29 2006, at the Civic Alliance headquarters was held a public debate on the theme: Serious deviations from morality in the Romanian education: violence, vulgarity, corruption, drugs. Means for the eradication or reduction of these negative phenomena. The discussion was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education, psychologists, sociologists, teachers, parents and students.

Discussions were held on the essay of Valerica Ispas (Civic Alliance) who presented the results of a survey conducted on 590 respondents, based on two questionnaires (one for pupils, the other for teachers and parents). A second paper entitled ”Subtle Violence” was presented by Adina Stefan, a journalist, as a parent of a 10th grade pupil at the National College I.L. Caragiale. The discussions showed: Yes, there is violence in schools (70%) of the responses; The main reasons are: the desire to show power, the influence of the group to which he/she belongs, media influence; Ways of combating the phenomenon: better school-family collaboration, teacher-teacher discussion, dialogue with pupils; At the actions for preventing school violence the following should attend: parents, teachers, psychologists.

Information for parents.

This work was done some years ago when this phenomenon was not as publicized as it is today. Even if it was not covered this doesn't mean that it was absent and had no repercussions on life at school for the majority of pupils. This is exactly what it is stated in this debate. In the beginning, the president of the Civic Alliance, through some rhetorical questions brought severe criticism to the Ministry of Education and Research. The main problem is that the Ministry only deals with the administrative part of education, leaving pupils education neglected. The results are depicted in the current situation.
