In the first part of the research the author refers to violence in general. Violence in schools is an issue which has undertaken considerable publicity in many countries: USA, France, England and, unfortunately, the list has been completed by Romania. Many television shows show various scenes of violence occurring in schools.
School violence is often non-fatal but can cause serious injury to one’s personal development.
The side with the greatest expanse of the article refers to adolescence and risk factors that this period involves. Adolescence is a very dynamic field, a contradictory period, in which feelings of pain may begin to manifest, especially for those teenagers who have certain predispositions or cases accompanied by conditions to deviance and delinquency.
We note that the author argues that school violence is generally associated with problematic urban areas and suburbs, where poverty is at home. Therefore, when talking about violence in school, there are considered to be causes of violent behavior outside factors – family, social and individual and internal factors – the school as a source of violence.
The paper concludes with the assertion that violence in schools is an expression of violence in society. Violence in schools reduces the chances for students to develop their personality and to acquire a qualitative education.
This work is important in the light of information provided and more importantly by the level of detail of risk factors present at the level of adolescence.
The author presents a clear picture of the phenomenon and moreover, it frames the adolescence period as well from a temporal and a behavioral point of view. The emphasis is put on adolescence and the risk factors associated with it. These risk factors fall into two categories, internal and external to schools.
Greater emphasis is put on external factors, namely: family factors, social factors and individual factors. The treatment of these factors occupies most of the paper.
The importance of this work is provided by the bibliographical sources as well. The bibliography is composed of 17 reference works in the field of social psychology and pedagogy.
