The current article consists of an introduction to the school bullying phenomenon. It starts with the definition of school bullying, its forms (physical violence, verbal, psychological- social, sexual, electronic), it refers also in which ages it starts to appear. Moreover, it refers to the school bullying expansion worldwide, mentioning the results of some researches, as well as the phenomenon expansion in Greece, in which school bullying has not reached a large scale yet. Furthermore, it describes the characteristics of bullies, emphasizing most in their psychological profile, as well as in their behavior as adults. It continues with the victims’ characteristics, psychological characteristics mostly, mentioning that usually are children with low self-esteem, different in many cases, or have a deviation from the average children. In addition, it is reported that victims present depression symptoms, school phobia, stress, insecurity, etc. It also has an impact to the school social environment and it is connected with other forms of anti-social or illegal behavior. Moreover, it seems that bullies keep this behavior when becoming adults. The article ends with a school bullying dealing reference, mentioning that any study or research regarding school bullying confrontation should take into account the social, economical and political environment in which school bullying is taking place. It also states that in developed countries, such as Germany, The Netherlands and Sweden, there is, in every school, an advanced program for school bullying control. But in Greece there isn’t yet any organized program regarding school bullying. Instead, any effort made is either teachers’ initiative who include their school in European programs, either by isolated services that apply such programs. The article ends with some proposal on how to face the problem.
