This article is structured in three parts.
In the first part the author talks about the types of violence that pupils and teachers are exposed to.
In the second part the author examines the causes responsible for the violent behavior of pupils.
The last part focuses on the measures needed to combat school violence.
If in the early stages of education violence was directed from teachers to pupils, the democratization of education has redirected violence from pupils to teachers.
Adolescent culture seems to be focused on violence, a phenomenon to which family, school, the media and the entertainment industry contributed to.
