Jim The study is a longitudinal study and is carried out annually since 1998. It provides information about the media equipment and media use of children and adolescents in Germany. The Jim study goes on online communities and particularly so-called social networks, which are gaining in importance and popularity when children and young people move on the WWW. The widespread and increasing use of new media among children and adolescents poses new threats and abuse and promotes new forms of violence, such as cyber bullying to light. Therefore, it is important to understand the current structures and developments in order to protect children and young people. This study provides the necessary background information.
We chose this study because it shows the progress and the development of media use by children and adolescents every year. Particularly in regard to the phenomenon of cyber bullying, this study provides valuable background information.
