The book "Gewaltprävention und Schulentwicklung – Analysen und Handlungskonzepte" written by the authors Melzer, Schubarth and Ehninger shows the relation between the development and problems in social behavior of adolescents. In school, problems in social behavior and disorders of personality development of children and young people are obvious every day- and especially its effects on the performance status of the students and the health of the teachers. The three authors account for the current state of research, they present their own research and draw conclusions for the educational work. In the action part of the book there is, in addition to tips and suggestions for practice, an overview of the most popular and proven prevention models and programs. In addition, the connection between violence prevention and school development is presented as well as the practical implementation of school development processes. The first chapter is primarily focused on violence as a social as well as an educational problem; the second chapter then presents the current research on violence in schools. The third chapter presents the results of the authors’ own studies and it also clarifies the significance of these results for violence prevention. Chapter 4 deals with possibilities of violence prevention and intervention in school life, chapter 5 presents educational concepts and programs of prevention. The last chapter specifically deals with ways of preventing violence through school development.
We chose the book "Gewaltprävention und Schulentwicklung – Analysen und Handlungskonzepte "written by the authors Melzer, Schubarth and Ehninger because it shows the link between school development and violence prevention. It clarifies that, with the development of children, changes in social behavior must be expected and that there might occur problems that can adversely affect the performance of children and the health of teachers. In addition to the presentation of current research, the authors also present their own research and the consequences for teaching resulting from their surveys. The book is particularly useful because it also offers practical tips and advice and moreover, presents the most famous and best proven prevention models and programs.
